Monovo’s mission is to provide comprehensive, preventive, and affordable care to underserved and rural communities.
In 2014, when Robert Johnstun, DNP, explained to product design student Jonathan Muñoz how data-driven virtual at-home care could detect adverse health events like heart attacks before they happen—a personal issue for Robert, given his family history —Rob's vision became clear.
This conversation planted the seeds for Monovo.
Founded in 2015 by Robert and Jonathan, Monovo was inspired by Robert's experience as an ICU nurse and his upbringing in the small farm town of Mona, UT ("Mon" in Monovo). Jonathan's wife, Ashley, a nurse from Provo, UT ("ovo" in Monovo), played a crucial role in bringing Robert and Jonathan together and remains a core member of Monovo's nursing team.
Our clinical experience and personal backgrounds in low health literacy environments (first-generation American born to Colombian immigrants) give us an edge in designing an effective and patient-centric system.
Over the past 10 years, we have built an incredibly diverse team which represents 8 countries over 5 continents. This foundation has fueled creativity and thoughtful innovation. It has enabled us to build our ecosystem in a way that can enrich and empower patient health journeys globally. Our values are rooted in faith, family, and hard work.
We didn't start Monovo with a business background but with the examples of hardworking parents who taught us to dream, work with integrity, and serve the community. We believe that primary care is the core of our healthcare system, and we exist to support primary care providers. This objective is achieved not by technology alone but by a service partner leveraging various technologies on the provider’s behalf to ensure a great care experience long after the patient has left the clinic.
Monovo is a labor of love for us and our families as we build a movement with a community-centric approach, making a lasting impact on those we serve.
Our team of healthcare, software, legal, finance, quality, and customer service experts have over 85 combined years of healthcare experience. They do what they do for one reason:
